The Future is Bright

By Nadia Owen, Meeting & Special Events Sales Manager, Optus Stadium

Optus Stadium has now been open for 18 months and the West Coast MASE team have proudly delivered 584 events since 1 January 2018, hosting over 82,000 attendees to a wide variety of private and corporate events.

We’ve been privileged to play host to some really cool events, some of which transformed the function facilities to the point that they were unrecognisable – like the Mexican Fiesta for 890 guests or the Perth Fashion Festival which had 3,750 guests across 5 nights experience a runway in the ballroom – and then some super fun, bright and colourful events like rainbow/pride themed event for 500 guests last weekend (photo attached).

Despite the largeness of the venue, a reconciliation of the past FY’s events prove that we have been very popular in the 50-pax and under meetings space, with 123 stand-alone functions booked accounting for 28% of the MASE business. We have hosted 47 gala dinners, accounting for only 10% of our business but yielding 31% of our overall revenue – this event type is already a focal point for growth and we are excited about the opportunity to increase this revenue type.

We now look to grow: we are on the hunt for an additional human asset in the sales team as we focus on growing our revenue stream by 40% over the next 4 years which is no easy task but we have an outstanding team of determined, passionate individuals that are willing to give anything a crack! And with 119 events already locked in for the FY19/20, the future is bright!

The PM, Drones and A Big Blokes Lunch

By Joanne Irvine, MASE Sales Manager, NSW

It’s been a big year for the VenuesLive NSW MASE team, with our two event gurus Dave Greselin and Raquel Kearney, leaping into new roles at Bankwest Stadium. As a result, the MASE team at ANZ Stadium welcomed to new recruits: Joanne Irvine (me!) and Mhairi Mutch.

In the short time Bankwest Stadium has been open, we have already held several amazing events, including The Western Sydney Business Chamber breakfast for 320 people with Prime Minister Scott Morrison addressing the room, and the Biggest Ever Blokes Lunch for 265 guests, supporting Prostate Cancer Australia.

The award for quirkiest event of the year (so far!) goes to the Geography Teacher’s Conference in April at ANZ Stadium – which included flying drones on the field!

The exciting world of MASE has so much to look forward to in the second half of 2019, with over 25 large functions already confirmed for Bankwest Stadium and Christmas party bookings flying in fast at ANZ Stadium.

So until next time, it’s a case of #watchthisspace!
