The Asia Pacific Incentives Meetings Event – AIME is the leading trade event for the meetings and event industry in the Asia Pacific region. AIME is when industry decision makers connect, create and do business across the whole Asia Pacific region, and a number of our VenuesLive staff were on hand to ensure we were part of the conversation. Jill Bright and Nadia Owen talk us through their respective experiences.

Jillian Bright, Catering Sales & Services Manager, VenuesLive NSW

Dave and Jill from Sydney, Mikaila from Wollongong and Dean from Newcastle came together to represent Venues NSW at AIME this year. Together they hosted over 54 meetings on top of walk ins to the stand.

The expo floor had a range of stands with a large representation from the hotel industry. We found the expo to be a great brand awareness activation for Venues NSW as well as the individual stadiums.

With many leads to follow up, the team did a great job in opening the eyes of buyers and showing there is more to conferencing than your average hotel!

Nadia Owen, Meetings & Special Events Sales Manager, Optus Stadium

As with the past two years, Optus Stadium exhibited at the 2020 AIME tradeshow as a part of the Perth stand, which was recently rebranded as Business Events Perth.

Optus Stadium co-shared the stand with a non-competitor WA property, Cable Beach Resort in Broome.

The show floor was considerably smaller compared to previous years which was put down to the removal of the Chinese mega-stand and a few other Asian stands due to the Coronavirus.

Unlike in Perth where the sun always shines, Melbourne was struck with 48 hours of epic rain over the course of the trade show which affected the number of local visitors roaming the show floor, resulting in a lower attendance number compared to previous years.

Like with all trade shows, we won’t know the return on investment until we have done follow-ups and quotes, but the highlight for the Optus Stadium stand was a hosted buyer from Singapore, who wishes to bring a 1000-pax 2-day conference to Perth in March 2021, which we are swiftly working on converting!
