Nadia Owen, Meetings & Special Events Sales Manager, Optus Stadium

It’s neither doom nor gloom in the wonderful world of MASE!

The new normal is all about social distancing which means clients need lots of space.  As you already know, here at Optus Stadium there is no shortage of that and we have been able to attract new events that were previously booked at smaller venues that are no longer able to accommodate them due to the square metre limitations of Phase 4.  We can even do hybrid events in collaboration with our in-house AV partner PAV Events, with the ability to do video calls with interstate or international speakers, as well as stream to and from audiences in multiple rooms or locations.  And all this with a professionally presented stage with backdrop suitable for client branding, and majestic views of the CBD and Matagarup Bridge.

We officially reopened for business on July 1 and welcomed our first exhibition event shortly after – The Blackstone Society Careers Fair in our River View Rooms with over 150 guests.

Back by popular demand, we are excited to see our Terrace Christmas Cocktail Packages being picked up by corporates, and we have so far booked in more than 20 events in November and December for companies to reward their staff and boost their morale following the pandemic.

Some of our upcoming events include a mining company hosting three massive end of year events over three consecutive weekends for between 1,500 and 2,500 people at each event.  Zero2hero’s Red Cape Ball is back for the second year in November, which will raise more than $100,000 to support their youth mental programs.  Aquinas College graduation dinner will also host their first offsite event with 600 guests in October.

Whilst other events have been postponed, the show must go on for school balls with more than 10 events already booked in for the first half of 2021.

And to finish on an even more positive note, we hear the ringing of wedding bells daily in MASE land. Getting engaged seemed to be the lockdown hobby and now half of Perth is looking to tie the knot at Optus Stadium – WA’s most surprising wedding venue.
